This year’s canoe journey, Paddle to Squaxin 2012, brought 98 canoe families onto the water from as far away as New Zealand and Alaska to take part in honoring the revitalization of maritime culture at Squaxin Island, Washington.

This special convening, Echoes of the Earth in Times of Climate Change, took place in April, 2012 in Bozeman, Montana and brought key culture bearers and artists together to build awareness and illuminate the imminent climate change impacts on traditional cultures and tribal ecosystems.
